Full Time | November 24, 2007 |
.: I guess I start a new chapter in my professional life. I have my first full-time position. World Council of Credit Unions has officially offered me a full-time position as a Web Software Developer. I'm so used to just being a consultant, that full-time is going to be weird for me.
| I'm sure I'll get used to the a steady paycheck though. Thank you to all those who have had the privilege to work for in the past. Not it is my turn to make a true mark in the world. |

A New City | September 10, 2007 |
.: I got to travel up to Seattle to check out the city. I'm considering a move to that area and I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. Needless to say, I'm excited to pack my stuff up and move out there. There was a great sense of style and a vibe I could completely get behind. The city was enamored with cool little spots and neighborhoods. Everyone felt like the city wasn't so much a city as a collection of of small towns.
| .: I still have some time left here in California, and I was happy to call myself an Californian for a short time as well. This state in the end was both a huge success and a mild disappointment. I was expecting so much more, and though I may have been the limiting factor, I will be glad to move back here in the future. |

Business Travel | August 07, 2007 |
.: One of the joys of being a consultant is the opportunity to travel. I just got back from a two week trip in Wisconsin to do some on-site training at World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). Jamie McAleer had to show me around the new project I'm going to be working with her on. Working on-site at the WOCCU's Madison headquarters is really a good time. If anyone has the chance to work with them, I say jump on it. I've never had so much fun working for a company. Their IT team is one of the best, tightest and most interesting bunch of people to work for.
| .: Although on a personal note, I have to give United the thumbs down on business travel. I had a two hour layover turn into a five hour annoyance. I could have driven from Chicago to Madison by the time they finally got me into the air. They changed the flight time 12 times before we took off (we all counted). |

Finished My Consulting Term | August 01, 2007 |
.: Sleepless Media and I decided that our short-term consulting contract had been completed and we parted ways this past Wednesday. They are a great bunch of designers and I'll miss working with them. Their gritty style and great use of textures and Web 2.0 techniques makes them a fantastic firm to work for. I hope they learn as much from my tenure as I did from them.
| .: To all those in the Santa Cruz area, if you need a full service web firm, please check them out at http://www.sleeplessmedia.com They are always interested in new clients, projects and concepts. |

New Article Posted | July 27, 2007 |
.: Every artist needs to know what "canvas" they are designing for. A painter needs to stretch canvas, a caver needs to find a piece of rock or wood and a photographer needs to get paper. So what then happens to web professionals? The seasoned web professional has seen their canvases grow and change through the years; 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 256 colours, 16 bit colour, 32 bit colour, dial-up and broadband. This becomes a problem for everyone in the web professional community. What IS the web canvas and how does one figure out what they can design for?
| .: Why are websites designed at a certain size? How big should I make a website. Check out my latest article "The Battle of Resolution" to find out. It's aimed at new web developers and graphic artists to give them a good understanding of where to start. |
